Writing a post about a jacket in July can seem a little ... well, silly. It's the time for posting all about your bikini collection or the ridiculously cute off-the-shoulder top you just snapped up for a bargain in New Look. However, as I'm writing this, the weather is fluctuating from blue skies to grey clouds, and a few weeks ago a month's worth of rain fell in 24 hours so a jacket is still very much a key item in my wardrobe!

I sometimes struggle with jackets and knowing which style to go for. Obviously, the temperature in Scotland has risen so it isn't freezing cold, just ... wet. So I was in the market for a chic coat that was thin enough that I wouldn't overheat whilst running for the bus but kept me dry when the heavens opened for an unscheduled downpour. All the usual haunts such as ASOS, Topshop etc. came up with nothing when I scoured their online shelves a few weeks and who should pip them to the post for the best all-seasons jacket than George at Asda.

Now, I'm not a snob by any matter of means, but supermarkets are one place I wouldn't usually think to do a spot of clothes shopping. However, my Mum was in doing her usual food shop and spotted this little beauty reduced on the shelf and quickly snapped it up because she thought I might like it. She's a babe.

This trench coat fits like a dream. I have longer arms than your average person (sexy) but this is still great for length, so no unsightly gangly wrist exposure. I find that the coat can be really easily dressed up and dressed down (although I've dressed it down in the pictures) and literally goes with everything. Definitely one of the easiest clothing items I've owned. Colour-wise the pastel pink really makes it stand out from the crowd and keeps it on-season and summery. It's also ridiculously light,  meaning that it's perfect for those summer downpour days when you want to be covered, but not sweaty. The other benefit? Like most trench coats, it just makes the whole outfit seem a bit chicer when I throw this jacket on top. Who doesn't love instantaneous chic points?
