I went through what could only be described as a year of hell with my skin in 2016. A stressful year of university, then a new job, plus a lack of exercise, mixed with a dash (or a straight run) of unhealthy eating has resulted in lackluster and dull skin. To tie in with this, I've also had a breakout of dermatitis across my eyes. Dermatitis is basically eczema, and it's broken out across my eyelids and under my eyes. The skin is cracked and flaky, sore and red, and makes wearing makeup impossible and just nothing sticks - and if it does, it makes it look about a hundred times worse! My first (and worst so far, fingers crossed!) breakout was in April, and my doctor said it could have been many things - a change of the weather, and out of date makeup item, an allergy, my diet, stress. Basically, I left with a tube of steroid cream and an uncertainty of just what the hell was going on with my skin.

One of my main goals for this year was to travel more, something I've wanted to do for a while. I was brought up on beach and package holidays, and whilst those are amazing and fab for a summer holiday, I have been itching to expand my holiday horizons for some time now. Until a few weeks ago, I had never, ever been to mainland Europe. In 25 years of living in Scotland, and I had never ever made it to mainland Europe (I've been to Cyprus but that totally doesn't count as it's an island). So when the opportunity to go Amsterdam with some friends came up, I jumped on that bandwagon so fast it made my eyes water a tiny bit.
