We're all guilty of saying the title above, aren't we? 'New year, new me!' I know I've said it every January 1st since I can remember. However, by the 16th of the year without fail, I've been the gym a grand total of 5 times (all 5 in the first week) and polished off all the leftover chocolates. WHOOPS.

I was truly under the impression I hadn't achieved any of the goals I had set myself this time last year. I documented in them all in a blog post, one of the very first I posted. And actually, when I look back at that blog post, I've achieved a bit more than I had initially thought - and if I haven't fully achieved them, then I'm making good progress towards it!

I said I wanted to say 'yes' more often, being someone who holds back and says no quite a lot. Although I'm not agreeing to everything and anything, I feel like I'm definitely in a more positive position than I was this time last year when it comes to saying yes to opportunities. Tied in with that was 'stop sweating the small stuff' - I'm working on his one, and it's a major one for 2017. I also said I wanted to blog lots, and start a youtube channel - although with my particular job a youtube channel is just out of the question, I didn't blog as much as I wanted, mainly due to essay deadlines and my full-time job just plain snowing me under. Next year, a more healthy job-life balance is definitely really high on my list! One of my goals was to eat healthier. Well, I totally bombed at that, and gained quite a bit of weight last year. But I'm determined to get my 2012 body back this year, no matter what it takes!

Now, onto the goals I did (kinda) manage. I did move out! A little later than planned, in October rather than in the summer, but I still did it! And actually, we're managing fine, and it's one of the best things I ever done. Yeah we need to get on top of the laundry and the Deliveroo app is getting a bit of use, but we're definitely getting there. The last of my goals for 2016 was to 'travel more'. I didn't get to do that too much due to to finances - we only went to Centre Parcs, and London - but it's high on my list for 2017, with a trip to Amsterdam booked, and chats of going away in the summer, too!

So, although I didn't managed to nail some of my goals for 2016, I'm sure making good progress. So, what are my goals for 2017?

1. Be a happier, healthier version of myself. Whatever this may mean. That doesn't mean just loosing weight - although that is a big part of it - but generally being a bit of a better human. Last year was totally stressful, so I want to just not stress as much, get outside more, and eat a bit healthier.

2. Travel more. A trip to Amsterdam is booked for February, and I'm determined to get away for the summer too, maybe October also! I need to see more of this lovely world and all the different cultures it has to offer.

3. Get a permanent job. The job I have just now is only temporary for a year, and my main goal for 2017 is to make it into a permanent one.

That's all my goals for 2017. I know, it's like half the size of my list in 2016! But maybe that's the point. By having a smaller set of goals, I can dedicate more time to them.

What are your goals for 2017?
